Festive desert ritual for tedious flights

Materials

3D printing, paper, local edible materials.

During a flight, the passenger experiences a variety of emotions and sensations: joy, expectation and excitement towards arriving at the destination, the feeling that pervades us when facing the strength and beauty of the view reflected through the aircraft’s windows. Next to the fear of the danger embodied in the flight itself, the exposure to the safety regulations and the unpleasant flight conditions: dryness, heat, density, and proximity to the fellow passengers sitting close by.
Part of these experiences were incorporated into the AIR TREAT desert kit.
a. Malabi- a light pudding with firm yet jiggly texture, originated from Turkey. This desert was inspired by the trembling of the aircraft when facing turbulence and unstable weather.
b. Cloud Cotton Candy- one of the most magical sights reflected through the windows is the white mountainous clouds, their shape, similar to the one of cotton candy. The candy is placed in a cup and is taken out with a plane shaped stick.
c. A mountain of Popsicle- through the widows a view of snowy peaks and vast sea surfaces are frequently seen.
d. Joined Lollipop- the passenger is forced to share their personal space with 2-3 other strangers. Usually, no interaction is being made between them.
Every row of the plane gets a lollipop, one of which they have to share. This action creates an interaction between the passengers, loosens the tension and adds a touch of humor to the situation.
